Global positioning system has 24 satellites that make up the GPS space segment are orbiting the earth about 12,000 miles above us. The satellites are moving constantly and make two complete orbit in less than 24 hours.
Global Positioning Satellite System s are powered by solar energy. The satellites have alternative batteries to keep them running in the event of a solar ellipse even when the power supply is not available. The satellites are flying because of the rocket booster which are present in each satellite.
