Geophysical Centre (GC) Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS)

The Geophysical Centre (GC) Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) was established as an individual research institute on 23rd July,1992 by the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS). The Geophysical Centre (GC) Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) is united with Interdepartmental Geophysical committee (IRC) of AS USSR. The main objectives of the Geophysical Centre (GC) Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) is to develop plans, make a relationship between geophysical researches which are undergoing in international projects and many other scientific studies. And also conduce researches and projects in the field of geophysics and geoinformatics.

The study of earth structure is an important part to know the earths formation. The earth is a complete balance of core, mantle, crust, biosphere, atmosphere, ionosphere, and radiation belts. The Geophysical Centre (GC) Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) represent those aspects of the earth through the researches and projects.

The activities of the Geophysical Centre (GC) Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS):

  • research in applied geoinformatics
    • Develop a data bank for storing, utilizing, processing data related to earth sciences
    • Such data banks are like World Data Centre on Solid Earth Physics and World Data Centre on Solar-Earth Physics
    • study the complex relationship between geophysical fields, ionosphere and solar terrestrial body
    • carry out the functions provided by the Russian committee of CODATA
  • Laboratories:
    • Department of Data and Network Technologies
    • Department of Complex Data Studies
    • Laboratory of Network Communication Technologies
    • Laboratory of Geoinformatics
    • Laboratory of Digital Mapping
    • Laboratory of Information Society Development
    • Laboratory of Electronic Publishing

The Geophysical Centre (GC) Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) mainly focus on the study of geophysical characteristics of the earth
